I graduated from St. Michael's college in 1980 with two degrees, one in Fine Arts and the other in History. This, of course, rendered me unfit for employment, so I went on to get a Masters in Art Education from Castleton University in 1985.
From 1981 to 2012 I was the art teacher at the Browns River Middle School. Since 1995 I have served on the Board of Directors of the Northern Vermont Artist Association, first as president, and now as vice president. I am a founding member of the Vermont Comic Creators Group.

I am a painter, kinetic sculptor, book illustrator, art educator and political cartoonist. I was trained as an oil painter in 1978, but switched to my current medium of acrylics in 1990. My political cartoon strip Mr. Brunelle Explains It All is done digitally, and appears in Funny Times and on the website www.humortimes.com. My kinetic sculptures are made of wood, foam core and acrylic paint. My book illustrations are done with a graphic tablet and digital pen.
My work has often been compared to that of my hero, the great Edward Hopper . My other "art heroes" include Goya, Brueghel, Daumier, Robert Crumb, Gluyas Williams, Charles Addams, Peter Arno, and Edward Gorey, just to name a few.
Researched by Vermont's expert on all things spooky, Joseph A. Citro, and illustrated by me. These full color 13" x 19" posters, autographed by me, can be yours for $11. Email me at brunelles3@aol.com to buy one!
